We in Toronto are very fortunate in 2024. There is a national level championship for age group racing to be held here in Toronto at the Toronto Triathlon Festival https://torontomultisportfestival.com/ttf/ . If you come on top in your age group you will be the champion of the sprint distance– in your age group — but you can claim the title ‘The Champ’.
Also again there will be the University Championships (more to come in a separate post). You can be racing for 2 reasons, to be champ and to bring glory to your university, here in Toronto at the Toronto Triathlon Festival.
And because it is the National Championships there will be 3 qualification slots awarded for the top athletes in each age group to join the Team Canada and go to the World Triathlon Championships in 2025 (more about qualifying in a later post) to be held in Wollongong, Australia. Just remember you must have a full and fully paid membership in your provincial triathlon union (Triathlon Ontario if you are from Ontario) before the race starts to challenge for the championship and to qualify for Worlds.
Or if you want to challenge yourself to a longer distance, you can register for the standard distance (Olympic distance) race. No championships here (they are in Montreal in September), but there are 2 qualification slots for the standard distance WT Champs in 2025.
The signature inter-university indoor triathlon meet of and hosted by the University of Toronto Triathlon Club is just around the corner. (I hope you have entered.) We have members from Queen’s, Western, Guelph, Waterloo, Laurier , UBC (really?), and of course U of T triathlon clubs attending. It is 12 mins swim, 12 mins spin, 12 mins run to see who can go the farthest in those times.
Okay, so U of T has not had the best of reputation for winning this thing, but we are hoping for a change.
If you have friends or family participating please drop-in 10:00 am, Saturday Jan 28th and cheer from the pool bleachers.
Get your base training in with the University of Toronto Triathlon Club in the Fall and start the build in Winter. Swim, Spin, Run. Slip in a half marathon at the Waterfront Marathon event or join in on the Black Toe 10k at the beginning of December to test your fitness for your awesome 2024 season a head. Or even catch a few remaining early fall triathlons. Click on Join the Club to get more info!
Registration is open! Links found on this page. https://uofttriathlon.com/join-the-club/
Welcome back everyone!
New to the club, old to the club? This is a great opportunity for new members to come and get to know everyone, and for old members to pass down their hard-earned triathlon wisdom, or well maybe just enjoy a pint with good company!
In the spirit of Oktoberfest – Prenup pub has an amazing selection of European and local beer! (Want to try a hot pepper with that beer?)
Well, look forward to it.

We are continuing to connect virtually during this time. If you are interested in connecting with our Triathlon community please email info@uofttriathlon.com and we will add you to our group.
We look forward to seeing everyone again as soon as possible.
